When the company file is opened in multi-user mode, an error will appear:

Solution 1: Use QuickBooks File Doctor

Solution 2: Verify Hosting and Services
Verify the Hosting
- Open QuickBooks on every hosting computer and go to File > Utilities.
- See Multi-User Host Access on the list, the file is not hosting this computer. Move to your next laptop. Remember on your workstation, don’t change anything.
- Select it if you see Stop Multi-User Access Hosting.
- File Must Close Window in the Company, click Yes.
Verify the Services
Ensure the beginning of QuickBooksDBXX and QBCFMonitor Service.
- Click the Start button for Windows.
- To bring up the run box, press the Windows key + R.
- Type MSC in the run box and press Enter.
- Service window: scroll down and presence for QuickBooksDBXX service.
- If QuickBooksDBXX Service cannot be viewed:
- Confirm that the Database Server Manager has also been installed on the server
- If you run the full program on the server, open QuickBooks, select and check to enable hosting.
- Double-click the QuickBooksDBXX service and confirm the startup type and the start of the service status.
- Click on Recovery
- Open the menu of the computer system to restart, this will restart the QuickBooksDB service automatically if it fails.
- Do the same for failure second. Click to save the modifications.

Solution 3: Open QuickBooks Network Ports to Communicate Firewall Configuration

- Repeat the Inbound Rules steps above.

Solution 5: Create and Share a New Folder for Your Company file by Allowing Company Files to be Shared.
- Create a new folder, share it, and set windows for entering permissions to share company files on the hosting computer.

- Open multi-user files for your company.
